Study shows that 1 in 6 prescriptions contain an error

Posted on Wednesday, May 16th, 2012 at 10:07 pm

A study conducted by the General Medical Council reveals that one in six medication prescriptions contains an error.

These errors are usually caused by mistakes surrounding misinterpreted or uninterpreted information by a general physician. Patients are often misinformed or not informed of how to properly take their medication, and that leads to complications.

The study also found that more errors with medication occurred for patients that were over the age of 75. This was usually the case due to the fact that these individuals were on more than one type of medication.

Pharmaceutical errors can be extremely costly to an individual. If you or someone you know has experienced a negative side effect due to a pharmaceutical error, please contact the pharmaceutical error lawyers of Levinson Axelrod, P.A. by calling 800-346-5529 today.

Millions of birth control packages recalled

Posted on Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 at 9:25 pm

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals, a company that manufactures generic pharmaceutical medication, has issued a recall on over 1.4 million birth control packages due to a packaging error. An error in the packaging made the expiration dates and pills’ lot number unreadable.

The company says there are no immediate health risks, despite an increased chance of unintended pregnancy due to a possible disruption of adequate dosage. It urges customers to use non-hormonal forms of birth control until the mistake is corrected.

Eight generic birth control products are affected by the recall: Gildess FE 1.5/30, Cyclafem 7/7/7, Emoquette, Tri-Previfem, Cyclafem 1/35, Gildess FE 1/20, Previfem, and Orsythia.
