Pharmaceutical company recalls painkillers for incorrect labeling

Posted on Monday, June 27th, 2011 at 4:29 pm

Endo Pharmaceuticals recently announced that it will be recalling thousands of bottles of Endocet, a painkiller, because it was found to contain a higher dosage than is reflected on the bottle’s label.

The recalled pills contain a higher dosage of acetaminophen, which could cause damage in the liver, especially in people who consume more than three alcoholic beverages a day. The error was found during a routine inspection of the bottles, and no injuries have been reported.

The recalled pills were sold in 18 states throughout the country and were distributed from April 19 through May 10.
