Several arrested in NJ for credit card fraud

Four people have been arrested in South Brunswick after keeping up a sophisticated credit card fraud for nearly five years. Together, they made nearly $10 million in fraudulent purchases of luxury cars, gold jewelry, spa treatments, as well as designer jewelry, hand bags, and clothing.
Investigators believe that they applied for nearly 3,900 fraudulent credit cards with over 600 fake names. The credit cards were sent to a mailing address they controlled where they then would raise the cards’ limits by paying off small purchases. Once the limit was raised, they would go out and make expensive purchases which they would not pay off.
If convicted, the conspirators could face up to 30 years in prison and fines up to $1 million.
