Pennsylvania Malpractice Case Slightly Delayed

Posted on Tuesday, October 6th, 2009 at 10:56 am

The medical malpractice case concerning the 2007 meningitis death of college sophomore Anne Ryan has been delayed by half a day, and will commence 1 o’clock EST on October 6. The delay is due to arguments over the jury selection process.

The suit was filed by the victim’s older brother, who alleges that doctors at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where his sister was being treated acted negligently when a spinal tap they administered caused the victim’s brain to herniate. This was the second time in three days that the woman was administered a spinal tap, which the suit says is overly risky.
